Event and Floral Assistant Contractor

Location: You'll be required to commute for studio work and on-site events at our Dupont Street studio and various venues across the GTA.

Compensation: $20-25 CAD/hour, plus bonuses based on experience and performance.

Duration: 3–6 months (June 29 to September 29 2025), Part-Time (flexible, up to 18 hours per week). Ideally available Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (9 am – 3 pm).

About the Role

We’re seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and proactive Event and Floral Assistant Contractor to join our close-knit team. If you’re passionate about building relationships, organizing events, creating impactful experiences, enthusiastic about floral design, and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we’d love to connect.

In this hybrid role, you'll provide crucial support across both administrative, creative, and partnership development areas, from client coordination to hands-on floral work, contributing directly to Dereves' unforgettable events.

Key Responsibilities

1. Admin & Client Coordination

  • Manage and promptly respond to client inquiries via email and event platforms (HoneyBook, WeddingWire).

  • Prepare and update client proposals, service agreements, and design briefs using HoneyBook and Canva.

  • Liaise with venues, vendors, and planners; update event timelines and logistics.

  • Engage with clients through follow-ups, thank you cards, surveys, and referral programs.

  • Support sales efforts at trade shows and networking events.

2. Venue Prospecting & Outreach

  • Research and connect with trendy venues in Toronto to identify partnership opportunities for events and co-branded experiences.

  • Conduct outreach via email, calls, and meetings to pitch potential partnerships.

3. Partnership Proposals

  • Develop compelling partnership proposals tailored to venue and brand opportunities aligning with Dereves’ mission.

4. Studio & Event Support

  • Assist with floral processing, arrangement creation, installations, and overall studio preparation and cleanup.

  • Participate in event set-up and breakdown, coordinating freelance teams and logistics.

  • Assist with event logistics, scheduling, and administrative tasks ensuring seamless event execution.

  • Support studio operations, including inventory tracking and general maintenance.

5. On-Site Support

  • Attend weddings and events in Toronto, assisting with coordination and capturing social content for promotions.

6. Creative Development

  • Brainstorm innovative partnership and event activation ideas, with a hybrid focus on floral design.

Qualifications

  • Completed or pursuing a diploma/degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related fields.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and familiar with HoneyBook.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.

  • Reliable, punctual, with access to personal computer and WiFi.

  • Valid G Driver's License (preferred, mileage reimbursed).

  • A creative thinker, collaborative spirit, and detail-oriented mindset.
